Introduction

I’m Diti, the hands and heart behind building KaariMati.
A self-taught artist who left the corporate world to follow her love for color, storytelling, and everything handmade.

My Journey

My art story began during the pandemic, when painting became my way to find calm in uncertainty. What started as a coping mechanism soon turned into a deeper calling.

While working at Bain & Company as an Analyst, I balanced my days with late-night painting sessions. Each canvas bringing me closer to who I truly was. Eventually, I chose to pursue art full-time.

Since then, I’ve explored mythology-inspired works, portraits, and commissioned pieces, and showcased my work in exhibitions. One of my paintings was also gifted to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

For me, art is more than practice, it’s a way to connect, express, and create meaning.

My Process

I usually begin my artworks after multiple rough layouts with different composition for my idea. I let the piece find its own rhythm. I tone down the white canvas with neutral tones and often play music that matches the mood of what I’m painting, it helps me truly feel what I’m creating.

In oils, I love working alla prima, letting everything blend naturally in one flow. With acrylics, I paint more intuitively mixing my own colors instead of using them straight from the tube.

I often blend with my hands instead of brushes or different tools. for soft transitions letting me connect better with the piece. I’ve learned to embrace the unpredictability in art, because the little things that don’t go as planned often become the most beautiful parts of the painting.
